Legendary Egyptian Singer Ahmed Adaweya Passes Away at 79

On Sunday, December 29, 2024, renowned Egyptian singer Ahmed Adaweya passed away at the age of 79 after a long battle with illness.

Director Amr Salama announced the news on his official Facebook account, writing: "Indeed, we belong to Allah, and to Him we shall return. Ahmed Adaweya, the father of my dear friend and brother, Mohamed Adaweya, has passed away."

The family is expected to announce the details of the funeral prayer and condolence arrangements in the coming hours.

Born on June 26, 1945, Ahmed Adaweya was one of Egypt's most prominent shaabi (folk) singers during the 1970s. He gained widespread fame for hit songs such as "El-Sah El-Dah Embo" and "Zahma Ya Dunia Zahma".

In addition to his music, Adaweya made significant contributions to Egyptian cinema, appearing in several films alongside top stars. 

His unique style and memorable performances left an indelible mark on both the music and film industries, as affirmed by his manager, Yasser Hassanien.
