Parasite, (Korean: 기생충) is a 2019 South Korean dark comedy thriller movie that was produced in 2019.

The movie held its world premiere at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival on May 21, where it became the first Korean movie to win the Palme d'Or — the first film to do so with a unanimous vote since 2013's "Blue Is the Warmest Colour".

The plot revolves around the members of a poor household, who is scheming to become the employees of a much wealthier family by pretending to be unrelated, highly qualified inpiduals.

It has grossed $160 million worldwide so far, becoming Bong's highest-grossing release and the third highest-grossing film in South Korea.

Rotten Tomatoes, one of the most trusted measurements of quality for Movies & TV, described the movie as “An urgent, brilliantly layered look at timely social themes, Parasite finds writer-director Bong Joon Ho in near-total command of his craft.”

It has scored an approval rating of 99% from Rotten Tomatoes, 8.6/10 from IMDb, 96% from Metacritic, while 91% of Google users liked the movie.
