The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy in Kuwait announced a power cut to parts of 8 residential areas to preserve the electrical system.
The ministry explained that the areas that will witness an outage include “Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Hawalli, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, Sabah Al-Ahmad, Al-Omariya, Al-Farwaniyah, Old Jahra, and Abu Ftaira.”
Earlier, the ministry had called for rationalizing electricity consumption during peak hours from 11 am to 5 pm., and following its instructions in this regard, noting that any new updates regarding the status of the electrical network will be announced.
Meantime, it attributed the reason for the blackouts to what happened yesterday in the supply of gas, which led to the outage of a number of power generation units in the Subiya and Doha Al-Gharbiyya electric power and water distillation stations, according to the Kuwait News Agency "KUNA."
