Keanu Reeves has officially announced that he will be returning as John Wick in “Ballerina,” a female-centric spinoff of the popular action franchise.

It also sees Ian McShane reprising his role as Winston, the manager of the Continental Hotel, Lance Reddick as Charon, one of the concierges at the Continental, and Anjelica Huston as The Director.

“Ballerina” stars Ana de Armas as a young female assassin who seeks revenge against those who murdered her family.

During the panel CCXP panel in Brazil, Reeves revealed exactly when Ballerina will take place in the franchise's timeline.

“So the film Ballerina, that Ana de Armas stars in, and being directed by Len Wiseman, it's already started filming, and it takes place between 'John Wick Chapter 3' and' John Wick Chapter 4',” he stated.

Reeves added: "[she is a] woman who has some very difficult circumstances and who's looking for revenge. Whoever killed her- someone killed her father. Who could that be? And so it's her journey for actually understanding her past,".

"She lost her father at a young age, and she doesn't really know what happened. Only that someone came into the house and killed her father, who had a tattoo. And as we know in John Wick, if you have a tattoo, something's going on."

Wiseman directs from  a script written by Shay Hatten.

Along with Iwanyk, producers include Erica Lee and Chad Stahelski. Brady Fujikawa and Chelsea Kujawa are overseeing the project for Lionsgate.

Before “Ballerina” twirls to the big screen, Reeves and McShane will return in “John Wick: Chapter 4”, which is set to hit theaters on March 24, 2023.

The first three installments of the vengeance franchise have been commercially successful, grossing a combined $587 million worldwide.
