South Korean pop star and actress Sulli was found dead on Monday at her home south of Seoul.
"The 25-year-old was found after her manager went to her home in Seongnam because she didn't answer phone calls for hours," said Kim Seong-tae, an official from the Seongnam Sujeong Police Department.
"The investigation is ongoing and we won't make presumptions about the cause of death," he added.
The security camera footage at the singer's home showed no signs of an intrusion.
Seoul police said in a statement that her manager had tried to call round to the 25-year-old's house last night but received no response.
"She was battling severe depression and had spoken out against cyber-bullying in the past," The police added.
Sulli's agency, SM Entertainment, mourned her death in a statement, saying: "very hard to believe and sorrowful."
The K-pop star has been found dead at her home a month after she sparked controversy in conservative South Korea.
Sulli had previously suffered a huge amount of online abuse.
It was reported that the pop singer then suspended her music career due to the abuse she had received.
She was close with another K-pop star called Jonghyun who committed suicide aged 27.
Choi Jin-ri, better known by her stage name Sulli, was a South Korean singer, songwriter, actress and model.
She was born on March 29, 1994. the The K-pop star first gained attention as a child actress, playing the young Princess Seonhwa of Silla in the SBS drama Ballad of Seodong.
In 2009, Sulli debuted as a member of South Korean girl group f(x) but left in 2015 to focus on her acting and solo singing career.
Many consider the five-piece girl group to have changed the face of K-pop.
On June 29, 2019, Sulli made her debut as a solo artist with the single album "Goblin", and held a special stage Peaches Go!blin on the same day at SM Town Theater.
