The Jordanian Minister of Health Dr. Nazir Obeidat said Saturday that the vaccination program against "COVID-19" will start across the country on Wednesday.

The minister revealed that the first shipments of the Chinese "Sinopharma" vaccine will arrive at midnight Saturday and the "Pfizer" vaccine on Monday night.

He said, "The program is based on the national guide to vaccination against Corona, and takes into account the priorities followed globally, which target the most affected groups, represented by the elderly who suffer from chronic diseases, and the most vulnerable groups represented by medical and health personnel."

The Ministry of Health announced earlier today that 20 deaths and 796 cases of the new Coronavirus had been recorded within the last 24 hours.

This brings the total number of infections in the Kingdom to 305,959 cases and deaths to 4009 cases.

On the other hand,  Obeidat, confirmed that there are indications that the second half of this year will witness the end of the Corona pandemic in the world.

Obeidat added during a meeting with members of the Epidemiology Committee in Jordan today: "The expectations are based on practical data, including the infection of large numbers of humanity with the virus, which generated natural immunity for them, in addition to reaching the vaccine for the epidemic."

He stressed the need for citizens to take the vaccine to support the efforts made to eradicate the virus, surprising as "the voices and rumors that are pushing towards not accepting and rejecting it."

He also indicated that his ministry will study, after 10 days, where things are going, after which steps will be taken in line with the changes.

The minister stressed that "in the event that the epidemiological situation throughout the Kingdom continues to be stable, there will be a breakthrough regarding the work of the closed and non-operating sectors."
