Jennifer Lopez is ready to make art out of previous heartache. Her debut single off of her ninth album, “Can’t Get Enough” will be available this Wednesday, January 10.
“I have my new single, from my new album and my new movie,” Lopez told Variety on the Golden Globes carpet. “Wednesday is actually a really big day, 22 years in the making.”
There to support her Globe-nominated husband, Ben Affleck, J.Lo paused to tease her first studio album since 2014 and the upcoming, wedding-filled music video that will accompany the debut single.
“I think it might surprise some people. It’s definitely kind of a meta story about the journey that it takes from getting from heartbreak back to love … I am somewhat of an expert you could say in a real way. Not so much about marriage but on weddings,” Lopez said, poking fun at the fact that she has been married four times.
“Again, I don’t take myself too seriously I think that life is a crazy journey where you fall down and you get back up, and you keep trying and you never give up.”
She added, “He sees me as an artist. He knows that I’m going to express myself. He’s my biggest fan and my biggest supporter, as I am of him, which I’m so glad to be here tonight because he’s nominated.”
Lopez revealed that her red carpet ring, which was in the shape of a hummingbird, was an easter egg for her new music and exclaimed, “It’s hummingbird season!”.

On the other hand, the pop star is set to star in a feature adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical “Kiss of the Spider Woman,” written and directed by “Dreamgirls” filmmaker Bill Condon.
Set in an Argentinian prison in 1981, the musical follows a fantasy woman named Aurora, dreamed up by Luis Molina, a dresser serving an eight-year sentence for allegedly corrupting a minor.
To cope with the horrors of prison, Molina imagines movies starring Aurora as a classic silver-screen diva. One of the movies centers on a spider woman who kills her prey with kisses. Molina then meets Marxist Valentin Arregui Paz in his cell, and the two form an unlikely bond.
The 1993 musical and 1985 feature film adaptation of Puig’s novel from director Héctor Babenco both received critical acclaim and major awards.
William Hurt won the Oscar for portraying Molina, while the musical won seven Tony awards — including best musical and recognition for all three performers.
Condon has worked on several of the most prominent movie musicals from this century, including 2002’s “Chicago”, 2006’s “Dreamgirls”, 2017’s “Beauty and the Beast”, and “The Greatest Showman”.
His other credits include “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” and the 2019 thriller “The Good Liar”. He earned an Oscar for his screenplay for his 1998 film “Gods and Monsters.”
Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy, Greg Yolen, and Matt Geller are producing the pic, with Lopez. Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina are executive producing on behalf of Nuyorican Productions.
“Kiss of the Spider Woman” marks Lopez’s first role in a full-fledged musical. The artist’s ninth studio album “This Is Me… Now” will debut on February 16.
