Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ayano Kunimitsu, met with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriate Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, in Cairo on November 1 to discuss deepening bilateral ties and regional cooperation.

Kunimitsu conveyed a message from Prime Minister Takaichi to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, reaffirming Japan’s commitment to advancing relations with Egypt. She also expressed her honour in attending the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum as the Prime Minister’s special envoy.

Abdelatty thanked Japan for its longstanding support in the construction of the Grand Egyptian Museum and its wide-ranging contributions to Egypt’s development in education, infrastructure, and cultural exchange.

He emphasised Egypt’s readiness to strengthen business and investment cooperation, encouraging greater participation of Japanese companies in the Egyptian market.

Kunimitsu commended Egypt’s leading role in promoting a ceasefire and stability in Gaza, noting Japan’s readiness to collaborate closely with Cairo on implementing the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, supporting Gaza’s reconstruction, and realizing a two-state solution.
