Japan's government has decided to get rid of the treated radioactive water of the Fukushima nuclear plant to the sea in spite of strong objections from the local fishermen, according to what is revealed by a well-informed source on Friday.

Kyodo", a Japanese news agency, pointed that it is scheduled that the concerned ministers will meet next Tuesday to make a decision related to the plan of ditching the radio-contaminated water of the  Fukushima nuclear plant to the sea.

The expected decision described as a main development after more than seven years of discussions on ditching the water used in cooling the melted fuel in the broken nuclear plant.

It is possible that ditching of the contaminated water will arise controversy among consumers and neighboring countries such as South Korea and China.

This water contains Tritium which is said that doesn't present any danger to human health.

The Japanese government attempted to make a decision last October to get rid of the contaminated water but it ruled later to spend more time for deliberations amid fears of harming the quality of marine products.

However, Japan's Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga said on Wednesday after meeting with Hiroshi Kishi, head of the National Federation of Japanese Cooperative Fisheries,  that his government will decide within few days whether it is suitable to ditch the water into the sea.

In February 2020, a government commission suggested various options to get rid of the contaminated water into the sea or evaporating it.

Within the following month, Tokyo Electric Power, which runs the Fukushima nuclear plant, considered a plan to alleviate the contaminated water below the dangerous level ahead of spewing it into the sea.

But the Japanese government warned that it couldn't continue postponing the decision of getting rid of the contaminated water as the reservoirs of water in Fukushima will deplete next autumn.
