Hong Kong actor Jackie Chan carried the Olympic torch atop the Great Wall on Thursday, marking the relay’s second day ahead of Beijing Winter Games.

Chan is known for his firm support of the Beijing government. He was identified in the official press release by his Chinese name Chen Gangsheng.

"I woke up at 4 a.m. This is my fourth Olympics. I'm very happy. I'm also cold!", Chan told reporters after his run along the wall.

Moreover, Table tennis Olympic gold medallist Ma Long and Wu Jingyu, a two-time gold medallist in taekwondo, were also among those carrying the red-and-silver spiral torch along the Badaling section of the Great Wall.

Later on Thursday, the torch will be taken to Zhangjiakou in neighbouring Hebei province, where most of the Olympic snow events will take place. The relay will end with the lighting of the Olympic cauldron at Friday's opening ceremony.

On his part, Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed that the Games will be streamlined, safe and splendid.

"The Olympic Winter Games will open tomorrow evening. The world is turning its eyes to China and China is ready. We will do our best to deliver to the world a streamlined, safe and splendid Games."
