Italian authorities have discovered more than 29 million Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine doses in a manufacturing site early this week, La Stampa reported on Wednesday.

These doses most probably came from AstraZeneca's Halix Plant, Netherlands without being approved by the European Union, amid the latest accusations of the giant firm of supply delays.

The newspaper added that these doses were originally shipped to the UK before the clashes between the UK and the EU over vaccine transportation erupted.

However, another Italian official mentioned that those vaccines were on their way to Belgium, Sputnik expressed.

The director-general of the Health, and Food Safety Department Commission Sandra Gallina explained that she had no idea about the discovered vaccine doses, whether they were leaving the EU to any outside country after a shipment request to Australia was rejected.

The newspaper added that the company hadn't informed the EU authorities about any missing shipped AstraZeneca doses, however, some reports indicated that the company referred the issue to the local authorities.

Last Thursday, the European major medicine regulator, The European Medicines Agency (EMA), issued its review over the safety of the vaccine amid blood clotting concerns.

EMA asserted that the vaccine is safe and effective, furthermore, it urged countries that halted using the vaccine to review their decision one more time for saving their people's lives in the light of a new wave of the virus.
