Dozens of Israeli settlers, protected by Israeli occupation police, stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Sunday morning through the Moroccan Gate. The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem reported that the settlers conducted provocative tours in the mosque's courtyards and performed Talmudic rituals in the area of the Gate of Mercy, east of the mosque.

Since the morning, Israeli police forces and special units have been deployed in and around the Al-Aqsa Mosque to fully secure the settlers' invasion.

Israeli police continue to restrict the entry of worshippers from Jerusalem and the occupied territories to Al-Aqsa Mosque, checking their identities and detaining some at the external gates.

Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, emphasized the United States' leadership role in efforts to stop the dangerous deterioration in the occupied Palestinian territories and achieve calm as a step towards a genuine political horizon for resolving the conflict based on the two-state solution according to international legitimacy and references.

Safadi made these remarks during his meeting on Saturday with the US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Barbara Leaf. They both stressed the depth of the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States and its importance in efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.

Safadi also appreciated the support provided by the United States to Jordan to help it address economic challenges and the regional crises' repercussions. Leaf, for her part, emphasized the key role of Jordan in efforts to resolve regional crises.

Safadi and Leaf discussed several regional issues, including the Palestinian cause, efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis, and the burden of Syrian refugees.

Safadi stressed the need to stop all illegal measures that undermine the two-state solution and the need to implement the commitments made in the Aqaba and Sharm El-Sheikh summits.
