Israel’s Ministry of Defense announced on Monday that it has signed a $55 million, five-year contract with Elbit Systems to acquire advanced protection systems for its Black Hawk and Apache helicopters, operated by the Israeli Air Force.
The agreement aims to significantly boost the aircrafts’ survivability in high-risk combat zones.
According to the ministry, the new systems include advanced threat detection technologies capable of identifying, disrupting, and neutralizing incoming threats. They also feature missile warning and countermeasure systems designed to protect against guided missile attacks.
This strategic investment reflects Israel’s continued focus on strengthening its aerial defense capabilities amid evolving regional security challenges.
The Ministry of Defense emphasized that the cutting-edge technology will ensure maximum protection for air crews during complex operational scenarios.
The integration of these defense systems is expected to enhance the operational readiness and safety of the Israeli Air Force's rotary-wing fleet.
