Israel's Army Radio has announced the killing of Yasser Abu Shabab, a militant leader from eastern Rafah who had reportedly cooperated with Israel in recent months. The announcement came amid ongoing tension in southern Gaza, where local armed groups continue to clash with Hamas.
Israeli media reports stated that Abu Shabab was killed by Hamas operatives, who allegedly targeted him after discovering his collaboration with Israel.
Abu Shabab had been known as the leader of the "Popular Forces" group in Rafah, and had previously acknowledged that he was working with the Israeli military inside Gaza against Hamas.
His death marks a significant development in the complex network of rival factions operating in the strip, highlighting the internal risks faced by individuals accused of cooperating with outside forces.
