Seventy-one Iranian lawmakers have called on the country’s Supreme National Security Council to reconsider Iran’s defense doctrine and its position on nuclear weapons, Iranian media reported Monday.

According to the report, the legislators urged authorities to reassess strategic policies in light of escalating regional tensions. The appeal comes at a time of heightened confrontation between Israel and Iranian-backed groups in the region.

Meanwhile, an Israeli security source said that Israel would expand its military operations inside Lebanon if Hezbollah does not disarm. The statement underscores Israel’s growing concern over the Lebanese group’s arsenal and influence along its northern border.

In the same connection, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Israel would “eliminate the Iranian axis,” signaling Tel Aviv’s intent to intensify efforts against Iran’s regional network of allied groups.

The overlapping statements highlight a rapid escalation in rhetoric between Tehran and Tel Aviv, raising fears of further instability across the Middle East.
