On Friday, the International Criminal Court (ICC) announced the issuance of an arrest warrant against Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The ICC claimed its responsibility for committing "war crimes" in Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion late in February 2022.

But, the Russian Foreign Ministry considered the court's decision "meaningless."

Commenting on the decision of the international court, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, "The decisions of the International Criminal Court have no meaning for our country, including from a legal point of view."

She noted that "Russia is not a party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, and does not bear any obligations under it. Russia does not cooperate with this body."

Zakharova confirmed, in a statement via Telegram, that Russia considers the arrest warrants issued by the International Criminal Court to be "legally invalid."

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, stressed that his country "does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court," describing the court's accusations as "outrageous and unacceptable."
