Instagram announced QR codes to its app worldwide, according to The Verge. The users will be able to generate QR codes on Instagram that will scannable from a third-party camera app.

This feature was launched in Japan, and the basic idea behind this feature is that businesses can generate QR code and their customers can scan it to open their accounts easily.

There will be a Nametag available that will later on turn to QR code. This image can be saved and shared in the form of an image as well.

It previously incorporated the Nametags feature which was internal QR line codes however they were only able to be scanned from the Instagram camera. Now the same feature is extended for third party apps camera.

There are other social media giants including Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat, Spotify, and many others have already incorporated the QR codes feature. However, during a pandemic when most of the businesses are confused about what to do, Instagram has come up with a more open QR system.

According to Techadvisor, Most of the hotels are using QR codes to showcase their menus for users instead of giving them physical menus. Now people will be easily using Instagram cameras and third-party app cameras to access useful information.

Noteworthy, Instagram is a very popular photo and video-sharing social media application that was launched in 2010 by Kevin Systrom. The  app was launched on Oct. 6, 2010, and gained up to 25,000 users in one day. At the end of the first week, it had been downloaded 100,000 times, and by mid-December, the number of users had reached one million.

Although Instagram has a variety of features, in general, the app's interface allows inpiduals who have created a free account to upload media–both photos and videos. Users can then edit the media they upload with filters and organize them with location information and hashtags.

Instagram service has also added a messaging feature and the capability for users to include multiple images or videos within the same post. Currently, one of the app's most popular features is called Instagram Stories.

With this feature, users can post photos and videos to a separate feed of content within the app. These types of story posts are viewable by other users for 24 hours after the time of the original posting.

According to Instagram, it is not only a tool for inpiduals, but also for businesses. The photo-sharing app offers companies the opportunity to start a free business account to promote their brand and products.
