Egypt played against Zimbabwe on 24 occasions, but the Pharaohs had the upper hand throughout history. The seven-time title holders managed to secure the victory on fourteen occasions, while the Warriors won only two games. The four other confrontations ended in draws.

World Cup Brazil 2014 Qualifiers, Egypt Vs. Zimbabwe (4-2) 

Both teams ended their preparations for the AFCON. Egypt played two warm-up games before the showpiece tournament. They managed to achieve victory in both friendlies against Tanzania and Guinea.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe's football team played two friendlies before the AFCON. The Warriors had a goalless draw against Nigeria in their first friendly. They held a one-one draw in their last friendly against Tanzania.

It is worth mentioning that Egypt were pooled in Group A alongside Zimbabwe, Uganda, and DR. Congo.
