With the escalation of international concerns about the safety of nuclear facilities in Ukraine, amid continuing fighting for the 37th day between Russian and Ukrainian forces, Grossi warned the Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, of the great dangers that may affect those stations.

He confirmed in a press conference today, Friday, after a meeting with Russian officials, that he presented Moscow and Kyiv with a list of measures to secure nuclear facilities, and discussed with the two parties the importance of maintaining the safety of nuclear plants during the war.

He also added that the agency would provide Ukraine with equipment to measure nuclear radiation, stressing the importance of having technical experts from the United Nations agency, on the ground, to help and intervene immediately in the event of any nuclear accident, or problem in any nuclear facility, faster.

He also announced that he will head the Agency's assistance and support mission to the Chernobyl plant in northern Ukraine, "as soon as possible," explaining that it will be the first in a series of nuclear security and safety missions to Ukraine.
