A huge explosion was heard in northern Tehran, Iran near the headquarters of the state broadcasting company in the early hours of Saturday, according to the Iranian Fars News Agency.

The head of the Tehran Fire Department said they "did not receive any reports of an explosion," according to Fars News, although they made it clear that firefighting and rescue teams had been sent to the reported area.

Reports placed the blast site near a building inside Mellat Park, where television and radio stations operated by Radio Islamic Republic of Iran are located.

The Tasnim News of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard quoted Hamidreza Goudarzi, deputy head of security in Tehran Province, as saying that the accident is under investigation and it is not clear at the present time why it occurred, and it is still unknown so far whether it was a terrorist act or not.

Some social Media users posted fake video of the incident, which shows a massive fire in a building.

Iranian media reported that there were no casualties at the scene of the explosion.

The explosion occurred several hours after a widespread cyber attack across Iran, in which hackers published the country's supreme leader's phone number as a contact number for information to delay trains.
