French coach Hervé Renard has officially announced his departure as head coach of the Tunisia national team, ending speculation over his future following the Eagles of Carthage's exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Renard confirmed his decision through a post on his official Instagram account, revealing that he had declined an offer to remain in charge and rejected the Tunisian Football Federation's proposal for a long-term contract. He also expressed his gratitude to the federation, players, and supporters for their trust during his brief spell with the national team.
"I would like to sincerely thank the Tunisian Football Federation for giving me the opportunity to lead the national team at the 2026 World Cup. It has been an exceptional experience that I will never forget," Renard wrote.
He added, "I wish the Tunisia national team every success in the future. I am confident that its future is bright and that it will continue to make its supporters proud and achieve success in the coming competitions."
Renard concluded his message by thanking everyone who worked alongside him during his time with the team and wished them the best in the upcoming challenges.
The 56-year-old was appointed Tunisia head coach on June 16 as a short-term replacement for Sabri Lamouchi, signing a contract that ran until the end of the country's World Cup campaign after being brought in to stabilize the team following a difficult start to the tournament.
Tunisia were eliminated in the group stage, bringing Renard's brief tenure to an end. The Tunisian Football Federation is now expected to begin the search for a new head coach ahead of the upcoming competitions, including the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
