Haytham Shaker Recounts His Battle with Cancer

Veteran actress and TV presenter, Esaad Younis hosted Monday evening Egyptian superstar Haytham Shaker on her program “Sahebat Al-Saada” broadcasted on “DMC” satellite Channel.

 

During the interview, he addressed several artistic and personal topics including, his battle with cancer.

 

Haytham recounted the details of his battle with colorectal cancer, saying: "I turned despair into a strength and a desire to cope with the disease, I felt that I had not achieved much and still have a lot to present as well as talent that I did not use."

 

“There are people who need me around and my presence beside them is something important and necessary, and it would have been selfish of me if I surrendered,” he said.

 

Shaker revealed that his mother did not know about his cancer.

 

"God gave me patience and strength to complete treatment, at the time of my illness my mother was the most important thing in my life and I was close to her and had a desire to complete the treatment in order to take care of her," he added.

Shaker – who disappeared from the entertainment industry five years ago – has revealed on social media that has been diagnosed with cancer, but he recovered from it.

 

The announcement had shocked the audience and the entertainment industry, who were keen to support and love.

 

Shaker made a glorious comeback after a long absence with his new album “Maarefa Adema”, which includes 14 songs.

 

In this album, Haytham had cooperated with a notable group of songwriters and prominent composers including Ayman Bahgat Kamar, Amir Teima, Bahaa El Din Mohamed, Amr Mostafa, Nader Abdallah, Mohamed Refai, Walid Saad, Mohamed Yehia, and others.

 

It also managed to rank on Egypt’s “iTunes top 100-music album” chart twice, as well as trend on Egypt’s YouTube tending list, confirming that his popularity was untouchable.
