Egyptian archaeologist Dr. Zahi Hawass commented on the sale of some Egyptian antiquities, including the head of Tutankhamen at an auction house in London.

Hawass said selling Egyptian antiquities abroad does not necessarily mean they were stolen, because the Egyptian antiquities were officially sold until 1983.

Speaking via phone in prominent journalist Amr Adib's TV program 'Alhekaya' (The Story), Hawass explained that the head of Tutankhamen, which is planned to be sold at one of the English auction houses; Christie's, left the temple Karnak in Egypt after 1970.

He affirmed that the auction house has no evidence that the head of Tutankhamen came out legally, expecting that the legal prosecution launched by the Ministry of Antiquities will lead to regain of the head of Tutankhamen.

Hawass expected the auction house will not risk to damage its reputation.
