Egyptian archaeologist, Dr. Zahi Hawass, accompanied a World Bank delegation during their visit to the pyramids area, at the invitation of Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation.

Hawass told the delegation that the Sphinx belongs to King Khafra, the founder of the second pyramid.

Hawass added that these allegations that claim that there is a missing city under the Sphinx are baseless, and have no scientific evidence, “We have pictures of the excavation that took place beneath the Sphinx, which show that "Sphinx" is a statue with no corridors under it.

The Egyptian archaeologist talked about the recent archaeological discoveries of the Ministry of Antiquities, the excavations in the Valley of the Monkeys, and the cache of Al-Assasif.

He also talked about Tutankhamun opera, which will be shown in Cairo Opera House before the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Hawass pointed out that the most important discovery in the 21st century is king Khufu's Wadi Al-Jarf Papyri, which tells us many secrets about building the pyramid of Khufu.

Hawass gave the delegation a group of his books.
