Al Azhar Grand Imam, Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, received Tunisian President Qais Saied at the headquarters of Al-Azhar Sheikhdom today, Sunday, to discuss the most prominent issues of the Arab and Islamic world, and aspects of cooperation between Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Tunisian Republic in the scientific and cultural fields.
The grand Imam welcomed the Tunisian president, stressing that the tours of the Tunisian president in the streets of Cairo reflect the strength of the Egyptian-Tunisian relations.
The Grand Imam expressed Al-Azhar's readiness to form a joint scientific committee to serve the Islamic culture, and to strengthen the scientific and cultural relations between Al-Azhar and Ez-Zitouna Universities in a way that suits the nobility and history of these two universities, in addition to allocating scholarships to Tunisia's students and provide training courses for imams within the framework of Al-Azhar International Academy program to train imams and preachers.
For his part, the Tunisian president expressed his happiness at visiting Al-Azhar and meeting the Grand Imam, and, stressing Tunisia's keenness to consolidate scientific and cultural relations with Al-Azhar.
