Goodreads Releases Egypt's Top Searched Books

A few days ago, Goodreads released a list of Egypt's top 50 searched books on the website. The list reflects the book trends that the Egyptians follow nowadays. This article presents somehow an analysis of the list's selections.

Ahmed Mourad Is on the Top

Despite the controversy over Ahmed Mourad's books, his "Lokandeet Beer El Watawet" is enlisted on the top of the list.

Ahmed Khaled Tawfik & Radwa Ashour Are Alive

Ahmed Khaled Tawfik and Radwa Ashour's books are still among the most searched books. Tawfik's "Utopia" comes in third place on the list. "Fi Mamar El Fee'ran" comes is the 21st, "El Shayeb" is the 39فا, and "Masal Ekaros" is 43rd on the list.

On the other hand, two episodes of his "Paranormal: "Al Nadaha," and "Masas El Demaa" come numbers 35, and 37.

Regarding Radwa Ashour's novels. Two of her most celebrated books: "The Trilogy of Ghernata" is number 8 on the list, and "Woman from Tantoura" is number 40.

World Classics are Here

32% percent from the listed books are Arabic translations of World classics and famous books. They are as the following:

George Orwell's "Animal Farm" is the second on the list, while his "1984" is the fifth.

Paulo Coelho's the Brazilian "The Alchemist" is the 9th, and the Egyptian Naguib Mahfouz's "Wilad Haritna" is the 16th, and "El Harafesh" is the 33rd.

The Spanish Carlos Ruiz Zafón's "The Shadow of the Wind" is the 21st, the American Jean Webster's "Daddy-Long-Legs" is the 23rd.

Moreover, the Turkish/American "40 Rules of Love" by Elif Shafaq is number 24, the first book of the American "Harry Potter" which is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" is number 26, and the British/Cypriot Alex Michaelides "The Silent Patient" is number 30.

The Australian Stefan Zweig's "The Royal Game" is number 31, the French Albert Camus' "The Stranger" is number 32.

While the 34th is the French "Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, and the Japanese Haruki Murakami's "Kafka on the Shore" is number 41. Number 47 is "The Dream of a Ridiculous Man" by the Russian Dostoyevsky.

Human Development and Human's Psychology Books Are Listed

Various Human Development and Human Psychology books are listed here. All releases of Dr. Mohamed Taha are on the list: "Laa' Be Taa'm El Flamengo" comes number 7, "Ealakat Khatera" comes number 12, and "El Khorog Aan El Nas" comes number 28.

Mohamed Salah's favorite "A Subtle Art for not Giving a F**k" by Mark Manson exists on the list as number 6.

Famous TV Presenter Ahmed El Shugairi's latest book "40" is also on the list as number 11.

Also, two spiritual books are present on the list: "Laa'nak Allah" by Ali Bin Gaber as number 14, and Islam Gamal's "Fatatny Salah" is the 42nd.

Late Released Novels by Young Writers Dominate the Selections

Amr Abdel Hamid's "Qawaed Garteen" full parts are on the list: "Amwaag Akma" as number 4, "Qawed Garteen" as number 17, and "Dakat El Shamo" as number 18. On the other hand, his "Ard Zikola" is number 20.

Khawla Hamdy's "Fy Qalbi Ontha Ebriya" is the 22nd, and "Daani Anzor Elaik" is the 27th on the list.

Ashraf El Ashmawi's books: "Bait El Qibteya" is the 17th and "Sayadet El Zamalek" is the 48th on the list.

Saod El Sanoosi' "Naqah Saleha" comes as number 36, and his "Saq El Bambo" comes as number 38.

Mohamed Sabek's "Ethma" comes as number 19, and Hassan El Gendy's "Ayam Maa' El Basha" comes as number 45.

Omar Taher's "Man Aa'lam Abdel Nasser Shorb El Sagger" comes as number 10 and his "Kohl Wi Habahan" is number 29.

"Hares Sath El Aalam" by Bothaina El Eesi comes as number 15, "Rasaael Sakataten Min Saaei El Bareed" by Youssef El Damkoky comes as number 46.

Khaled El Housseni's "Adaa' El Taaera El Warkeya" is number 44,  while his"Alf Shams Sateea" is number 49, and finally Reem El Basyouni's "Awlaad El Nas" comes as number 50.
