German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier is set to embark on a regional tour covering Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Turkey, with a focus on strengthening diplomatic ties and regional cooperation.

Steinmeier is scheduled to meet Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara on February 5.

According to German officials, Turkey plays a key strategic role in the region, particularly amid the ongoing developments in Syria. The visit aims to enhance bilateral cooperation on regional stability and security.

The Saudi leg of Steinmeier’s tour was initially planned for November 2024 but was postponed due to internal challenges in Germany.

His visit is expected to reaffirm strong diplomatic ties and explore avenues for economic and political collaboration.

During his stay in Amman, Steinmeier will visit German troops stationed in Jordan, as part of Germany’s military presence in the region. This visit underscores Berlin’s commitment to regional security and defense cooperation.
