Germany Welcomes European Council Decision to Impose More Sanctions on Iran

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz confirmed that the goal now is to avoid regional escalation and the ignition of the crisis in the Middle East.

This came during a phone call between German Chancellor and Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday.

German federal government spokesman Stephen Hebstreit said that the Israeli Prime Minister briefed the German Chancellor on developments in the situation in the region.

w addition, Scholz welcomed the decision of the heads of state and government in the European Council to impose more sanctions on Iran.

In addition, German Chancellor stressed that the German federal government will continue to coordinate closely with the G7 partners and the European Union regarding the situation in the Middle East region.
