At least 50 members of the Al-Shabaab militant group, including prominent leaders, were killed in military operations conducted by the army in the city of Jamame, southern Somalia, according to government media outlets.
The Somali News Agency reported on Saturday that clashes occurred in areas along the Juba River in the city of Jamame in the Lower Juba province.
The agency added that the clashes also resulted in the injury and capture of other members of Al-Shabaab, and the army thwarted several landmines.
The agency noted that the government military operation took place in recent days, during which prominent leaders were killed.
This operation comes days after the killing of 30 militants in a military operation targeting Al-Shabaab fighters.
