George Wassouf to Perform in Jordan on August 11

Iconic Syrian singer George Wassouf will perform live at the 30th Fuheis Festival, in Jordan, on Thursday, August 11.

The festival will run from August 10 to August 17.

Fuheis Festival is an annually held event in Fuheis and is considered to be the second biggest festival in Jordan, after Jerash Festival.

Several artists and singers from across the Arab world headlined the festival including Wadih El Safi, Melhem Barakat, and Najwa Karam.

Fuheis Festival was launched in 1990 and is held annually under the slogan "Jordan History and Civilization". The event draws around 10,000 to 30,000 visitors yearly.

Wassouf, who was born on December 23, 1961, has a significantly large audience of fans in the Arab world and abroad.

He began singing at the age of 10 in his hometown Kafroun and was discovered two years later by his first manager and producer George Yazbeck at a wedding.

At the age of 19, the singer became famous after appearing on the Lebanese show “Studio El Fan” in 1980.

He is one of the most successful Arab singers selling over 60 million records worldwide.

In 2021, a documentary titled “Masirati” (My Journey)  highlighted the iconic musician’s career-defining moments and secrets he has never uncovered before.

The documentary was directed by David Oryan and was pided into six episodes, two episodes are centered around the iconic singer’s childhood, two around his adolescence and his rise to fame, and two about his life.

“Masirati” was filmed in Lebanon and Syria with many scenes shot at the iconic musician’s hometown, Kafroun.
