Osama Rabie, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority received on Sunday the Belgian ambassador in Cairo François Cornet d'Elzius to discuss joint cooperation, and review the latest develepments in the Suez Canal International Museum.
Cornet d'Elzius praised the performance of the Arab Contractors Co. to revive the museum's building, which represents an important period in the history of Egyptian-European relations.
During the meeting, Rabie expressed his appreciation for the extended partnership with the European country, lauding the role played by the Belgian companies' dredges during the drilling of the new Suez Canal project. 
He affirmed the interest of the authority to boost cooperation with success partners in various fields in order to achieve common interests, including an initiative to participate in some historical collections in the Suez Canal International Museum.
The head of the authority reviewed the developments of the national projects adopted recently in the canal, inviting the Belgian ambassador to invest in the canal, referring in this regard to the promising opportunities that the region possesses, especially after the tremendous development witnessed in infrastructure projects, including tunnels, and the road network linking Sinai with the valley.
On his part, Cornet d'Elzius expressed his aspiration to open new horizons for economic and cultural cooperation with the Suez Canal Authority, in the framework of the developments witnessed at various levels.
The visit included the inspection of the construction and restoration works at the Museum of the Canal, and House of Ferdinand de Lesseps (centre), followed by a visit to the Historical Library, and then a tour in the new Suez Canal, in the presence of Sahar Zaghloul, Director of the Museum, and consultant Mohamed El-Dahabi.
At the end of the meeting Rabie presented the the Suez Canal shield to the Belgian ambassador.
