The Chinese Central Military Commission announced on Friday that 4 Chinese soldiers were killed last June during border clashes in the Lines of Effective Control (with India) in the west of the country.

The People's Liberation Army Daily reported that the Chinese military authorities honored two officers and three soldiers, including the four troopers.

They received prizes posthumously because they defended the western borders of the country.

The newspaper added that the Central Military Commission "commended the soldiers for their role in confronting the hostilities raised by foreign forces in  Jalwan Valley."

The title of "hero of the defense of the borders" was awarded to the commander of the battalion after his death, while 3 soldiers received a first-class estimate, where they clashed with the invading force.

They all died in a clash with foreign military personnel using steel tubes, sticks, and stones last June." Another officer, who was seriously wounded in the skirmishes, was awarded the title of "Commander of a Hero Regiment for the Defense of the Borders."

The Chinese Ministry of National Defense stated that the confrontation began last April when members of the foreign army (India) crossed the border and tried to build facilities unilaterally along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The situation escalated in June 2020 when members of the Indian army, in violation of the agreement reached between the two sides, again, violated the line and deliberately provoked and attacked Chinese officers and soldiers who went there to conduct negotiations, which led to a violent clash of hands.

In response, the ministry noted that the Chinese border forces have taken decisive countermeasures in self-defense, resolutely resisted violently, and effectively safeguarded China's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
