The Chinese government has decided to provide Egypt with 300,000 doses of Coronavirus vaccine, sufficient for 150,000 people.

In a press conference held earlier today Sunday, the Chinese ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang said that this batch aims at supporting the Egyptian government's efforts to ensure the safety of its people.

He also added that this move comes within the framework of deepening the traditional friendship between Egypt and China and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the face of the pandemic.

It is worth mentioning that, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that 35 million citizens are targeted for vaccination against coronavirus, stressing that financing for these vaccines is available.

He added during a call-in with the “Al-Hekaya” program with Amr Adib on Saturday that the first to receive vaccination are medical teams, people underlying conditions that put them at greater risk of severe illness, and the elderly, pointing out that the issue of vaccination is very important to confront the pandemic.

Sisi stressed the need to reassure people of the state’s plans to confront the pandemic, indicating the state’s ability to control and tackle the virus.
