Former Jordanian MP Dr. Mousa Omer Hassan Abu Sweilem and his son Ayman, an employee of the House of Representatives, were shot dead in the Abu Nseir area, north of the capital Amman.
His wife sustained serious injuries and was transferred to the University of Jordan Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.
According to Colonel Amer Al-Sartawi, spokesperson for the Public Security Directorate, initial investigations revealed that the assailant was the late MP’s nephew, who opened fire on the family before surrendering himself to authorities.
The weapon used in the attack has been seized, and investigations are ongoing.
Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmed Al-Safadi mourned Abu Sweilem, praising his contributions during his tenure in the 17th Parliament, and extended condolences to his family and loved ones.
