Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed ways to strengthen Egypt’s economic presence in Africa during a meeting with representatives of Egyptian companies operating across the continent.

Abdelatty said the private sector is a main pillar in boosting economic relations with African countries, increasing trade exchange, and attracting joint investments. He praised the performance of Egyptian companies in African markets and their role in implementing major development projects.

The minister also stressed the importance of supporting Egyptian companies through coordination with African governments and institutions to help remove procedural and regulatory obstacles and facilitate access to African markets.

The meeting also discussed preparations for a business forum in El Alamein next month on the sidelines of the African Union mid-year coordination summit. Abdelatty said the forum would provide opportunities to strengthen partnerships between governments and the private sector and support economic integration efforts across the continent.

Participants also reviewed investment opportunities in Africa and ways to increase the participation of Egyptian companies in major development projects under the African Continental Free Trade Area framework.
