Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Expatriate Egyptians' Affairs, received, on Wednesday, his Sudanese counterpart Muihiddin Salem.
The two ministers discussed the latest developments on the Sudanese arena, particularly the situation in the city of El-Fasher and the humanitarian and security developments it is witnessing.
Tamim Khallaf, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's full support for the brotherly Sudanese people and its commitment to continue its efforts aimed at achieving stability and peace in Sudan.
Moreover, he pointed out Egypt's active engagement in the tracks seeking a ceasefire and a comprehensive humanitarian truce that allows the access of humanitarian aid and alleviates the suffering of civilians.
FM also stressed Egypt's adherence to Sudan's unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions, affirming that Sudan's security and stability are an integral part of the region's security and stability.
Furthermore, both ministers reviewed aspects of cooperation between the two sides in the trade, investment, and infrastructure reform and rehabilitation fields.
In this regard, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's readiness to expand cooperation in the electricity, water, health, and education sectors to support the needs of the brotherly Sudanese people.
The meeting also addressed the issue of water security, where the unity of the two countries' position as Nile riparian states was affirmed, and the necessity of full commitment to international law in the Eastern Nile Basin was stressed, along with the complete rejection of unilateral measures in the Nile River.
The meeting concluded with an emphasis on the two sides' keenness to continue close coordination and consultation, thus enhancing the historical bonds of brotherhood between Egypt and Sudan and supporting the aspirations of the two peoples for security, development, and stability.
