Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Egyptians Abroad, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, met with Faisal Al-Miqdad, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria.

The meeting came on the sidelines of the high-level segment of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

During the meeting, Abdelatty reiterated Egypt’s firm position on the need to preserve Syria’s unity and territorial integrity, support the institutions of the national state, and ensure the full restoration of its sovereignty over its lands while safeguarding the resources of the Syrian people.

He stressed that a political process inclusive of all components of the Syrian people remains the cornerstone for achieving sustainable stability.

FM also highlighted the importance of continuing efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, emphasizing that Egypt views Syria’s recovery and its return to its natural role within the Arab and regional spheres as a key objective that reinforces Arab national security.

Abdelatty further reaffirmed Egypt’s categorical rejection of repeated Israeli violations of Syrian sovereignty, warning of the dangers of exploiting current circumstances to justify foreign interventions.

Moreover, he stressed that Egypt continues to use its regional and international engagements to underscore the necessity of respecting Syria’s unity and full sovereignty, while rejecting any attempts to undermine its security.
