Film "Weekend" Adds Lina Sophia to Cast

Rising Egyptian-French-Moroccan actress Lina Sophia is the newest addition to the cast of the buzzy film "Weekend".

Ahmed Dawood, Maged El Masry, Huda El Mufti, and Mohamed Abdul Rahman "Tota" round out the cast.

Sarah Karim directs the pic from a script by Hussein Niazi.

Principal photography is set to commence soon, with shooting set to take place between Cairo, El Gouna, Soma Bay, and the Red Sea shores.

Sophia made her last appearance on the big screen in the 2025 comedy film "Al Safa Thaanawia Banat".

Born on March 29, 2008, Sophia is extremely passionate about cinematic, theatrical, and television arts and has been known for her roles in many successful projects by big directors since she was a child, including 2016's "Hepta: The Last Lecture," the highest-grossing romance film in Egyptian history.

Her other film credits include "Hassan El Masri" and "Mary".

She has also appeared in several hit TV shows such as "Haza al Masaa," "Bel Hagm el A'eli," "El Nazwa,""Qawaed Al Talaq Al 45," "Kamel El Adad," and "Link".

As for her international credits, Sophia worked on the thriller film "Story" by French Moroccan director Jérôme Cohen-Olivar, in which she acted in French.

Sophia most recently starred as Yara in the Ramadan 2026 TV series "W Nensa Elly Kan" ("And We Forget What Was"), starring opposite Yasmin Abdelaziz and Khaled Sarhan.
