FIFA has announced that the winners of the 2026 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and Spain will receive bespoke championship rings, marking the first time such an award has been introduced in the tournament's history.

Inspired by the long-standing tradition in American sports such as the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and Major League Soccer, FIFA said the rings are designed to bring an "iconic American sporting tradition to global football."

The custom-made rings will feature the FIFA World Cup trophy engraved on one side, while the other side will be personalized to reflect the identity of the winning national team.

Immediately after Sunday's final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, temporary rings will be presented to the winning team's captain and head coach. The official customized rings will be delivered at a later date, with 30 rings produced exclusively for the champions.

In total, 2,026 limited-edition rings will be manufactured as a tribute to the 2026 tournament. Besides the 30 awarded to the winning squad, the remaining 1,996 rings will be made available for fans worldwide. FIFA has yet to announce their retail price.

The governing body confirmed that the traditional gold winners' medals will continue to be awarded alongside the new championship rings.

The World Cup final is also expected to attract several high-profile guests. U.S. President Donald Trump is set to attend the match after participating in a FIFA reception at Trump Tower in New York, while Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has also confirmed his attendance.

Meanwhile, Argentine President Javier Milei revealed he will watch the final from home, saying he does not want to "jinx" the defending world champions by attending the match in person.

Argentina will be aiming to defend the World Cup title they won in Qatar 2022, while Spain will be chasing their second world championship after lifting the trophy in 2010.
