Gianni Infantino, FIFA president and his family visited Friday morning the Giza Pyramids on the sidelines of his presence in Egypt to attend the African Cup of Nations’ final.

They were accompanied by Director General of the Pyramids, Ashraf Mohiuddin who said that the tour began with a visit to the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Sphinx, and the panorama area, where they took memorial photos.

“The President of FIFA expressed his deep fascination with the pyramid and its geometric construction,” Ashraf said.

"Gianni told me that when the ancient Egyptians built the pyramids, the rest of the world lived in caves," he added.

The FIFA president also promised to visit the other archaeological sites in the region, as the pyramids are his first passion.

At the end of the tour, Mohiuddin handed Infantino a replica statue of the Sphinx.
