Fatah: Arab Summit Faces Real Test in Confronting Israeli Aggression, U.S. Bias

The spokesperson for the Palestinian Fatah movement said the ongoing Arab-Islamic summit represents a critical test of the region’s ability to respond to what he described as Israel’s escalating aggression, backed by unconditional U.S. support.

Abdel Fattah Dawla stressed that recent statements by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the U.S. Secretary of State clearly reflect a policy that emboldens the occupation to intensify its assaults on the Palestinian people. He warned that such political and military support not only harms Palestinians but also undermines U.S. interests in the Middle East by eroding prospects for peace and stability.

Dawla said the timing of the summit is highly sensitive, amid American and Israeli efforts to influence its outcomes and divert attention from the core of the Palestinian issue. He urged Arab leaders to move beyond expressions of condemnation toward practical measures, including coordinated action at the United Nations and the Security Council to establish mechanisms for protecting Palestinians and halting what he called Israel’s escalating crimes against civilians and violations of Arab sovereignty.

In the same context, he emphasized that Arab public opinion expects a response proportional to the gravity of the moment, particularly in light of Washington’s open alignment with Israel and Netanyahu’s provocative remarks. Dawla called on Arab countries maintaining relations with Israel to reconsider those ties, given what he described as Israel’s continued denial of Palestinian rights.

Reaffirming the Arab Peace Initiative’s principle of “no normalization without a Palestinian state,” the Fatah spokesperson highlighted the importance of activating tools of boycott and sanctions.

He further urged the summit to adopt binding decisions with real enforcement power to restore the Palestinian cause to the center of the Arab and international agenda in the face of attempts at marginalization.
