Former Culture's Minister Farouk Hosny thanked on Sunday French Ambassador in Cairo Stéphane Romatet for attending his art exhibition, which was held at Aisha Fahmy Palace in Zamalek district.

Hosny pointed out that the crowds hindered him from talking more with Romatet.

"Any artist wishes to show his artworks at an upcoming exhibition in Paris, which would be attended by many reputed world's artists," Hosny noted.

The artist thanked the ambassador for his sweet words.

Earlier, Romatet said that Farouk Hosny is a great artist, pointing out that his exhibition stands as a remarkable example of his distinguished talent, in addition to being one of the great culture ministers throughout Egypt’s history.

The Ambassador added, "Hosny has been and remains a friend to France, as he has established very close ties between the Egyptian and French cultures while in office, dubbing him as a great artist and minister."

The French ambassador saluted the former minister on this great success, adding that he has a unique style of painting.

The ambassador hoped that all the artist's paintings would be displayed in France.

It is noteworthy that the exhibition was opened on March 3 and includes 52 artworks for Hosny, who produced them between 2018 and 2019.

Hosny, born in 1938 in Alexandria, is an Egyptian abstract painter, who was appointed as a minister of culture from 1987 to 2011.

In 2019, Farouk Hosny Foundation for Culture and Arts was inaugurated at its headquarters in Zamalek amid the attendance of a large number of artists and intellectuals.

The foundation includes many of Hosny’s paintings as well as Egyptian and international sculptures from his collection.
