FAO Egypt, Canadian Delegation Discuss Enhancing Cooperation

FAO Egypt officials held a meeting with a high-ranking Canadian delegation headed by Rob Oliphant, the Parliamentary Secretary to the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation and partnership in agriculture, food security, climate change sectors in Egypt, according to a statement released by FAO-Egypt. 

"During the meeting, FAO representatives in Egypt and the high-ranking Canadian delegation discussed the impacts of climate change and the Ukrainian war on the agricultural and food security sectors in Egypt," the statement read.

FAO-Egypt added that the Canadian mission also listened to the successful stories of some domestic farmers.

It's worth mentioning that FAO has been working in collaboration with a number of Egyptian institutions to implement projects of climate adaptation like the projects increasing the efficiency of using water and expanding the use of new and renewable energy, especially using solar energy in the agricultural activities like irrigation in addition to the projects of increasing the efficiency of the sector of animal production.
