Luis Miguel Bueno, the European Union spokesman for the Middle East and North Africa, has lauded Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan for their pivotal roles in fostering sustainable peace in the region. In a statement to Cairo News Channel on Thursday, Bueno highlighted the EU's firm stance against any Israeli assault on the Palestinian city of Rafah, warning that any military operation in Gaza could lead to a severe humanitarian disaster.
Bueno further stated that there is a consensus among EU member states on the necessity of restraint and de-escalation in Gaza. He urged the Israeli state to immediately halt fire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians. He noted the unprecedented tensions between Iran, Israel, and other parties, cautioning against the grave situation in Gaza that poses a significant risk to regional stability and peace.
