24 films from 19 countries of the European Union are to be screened within the framework of the festival in 8 cultural centers in May, among them is today´s screening at the prestigious Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
Other screenings take place at various European and local cultural centers: Institut Français, Anna Lindh Foundation, Goethe-Institut, Honorary Consulate of Italy, Hellenic Foundation for Culture, and the Jesuit Cultural Centre.
The screenings are open to the public, with free entry until full capacity is reached. The screenings are provided with English and Arabic subtitles, to make the films reachable to the Egyptian public.
The networking event programmed on May 13 before the screening at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is meant to introduce the festival to the Egyptian public and the filmmaker´s community, especially in Alexandria.
It is the first time that the Art Center of the Bibliotecha has joined the EU Film Festival and it has been of great support in all aspects, starting from guidance with regards to the selection of the films to the networking that made this project possible.
It is worth mentioning that the Jesuit Cultural Centre is also covering an important and interesting side of the Festival. Apart from the screening of films, the Jesuit Cultural Center is organizing a full-time, seven-day workshop for young filmmakers called "How to Tell Your Story". 17 participants have been selected and will also be participating tonight at the networking event.
