The European Union Ambassador to Egypt Angelina Eichhorst confirmed that the EU is investing approximately €1.12 billion in several projects in Alexandria, including the Raml tram, the Abu Qir metro line, the West Alexandria water treatment plant, search and rescue boats, and several strategic studies.
In a statement to reporters at the conclusion of her visit to Alexandria on Friday, the EU Ambassador said that the EU is providing €120 million in support and guaranteeing €1 billion in loans from the European Investment Bank.
She explained that Alexandria is also benefiting from national and regional projects funded by the EU, supporting culture, refugees, young students, entrepreneurs, the private sector, and industries to facilitate its transition to a green economy.
