Ambassador of the European Union (EU) in Cairo Christian Berger affirmed today, Wednesday, that Egypt and EU have a long-term partnership and extended and solid relations in all fields. He expected that the coming period would witness great cooperation between the two sides, especially in technology and pharmaceutical industries.
Berger said - in response to a question by the Middle East News Agency during a meeting with a number of diplomatic editors - that the European Union's relations with countries, especially strategic partners such as Egypt, are based on long-term visions, as "we have long-term agreements and partnerships for about seven years," Pointing out that relations with Egypt include long-term trade agreements.
Concerning the transfer of European technology to Egypt, he indicated that there are discussions in this regard, not only for the sake of investment, but also through research and innovation through Egyptian institutions, companies and universities that play a role in research and innovation programs.
The ambassador of the European Union to Egypt indicated that there are discussions between Egyptian and European companies in this field.
Burger revealed that there are also discussions about the development of the pharmaceutical industry, explaining that Egyptian companies have capabilities, especially in the production of vaccines.
He stressed that there must be cooperation with Egypt regarding humanitarian crises and disasters.
