Ethiopia's foreign ministry issued on Monday a statement of apology after publishing An African map without including Somalia on its official website.

The ministry said that officials noticed a disagreeable image of the African map posted on its website.

"We have noticed that a wrong and unacceptable image of the Map of Africa has crept in on the Web site of the Ministry of Foreign of Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia," the statement read.

it added that the ministry immediately intervened, removing the map from the website.

"Upon noticing the matter, officials immediately removed it from the ministry's website," it noted.

In addition, the Ethiopian ministry expressed its deep regret over this map, saying, "We sincerely regret any confusion and misunderstanding this incident might have caused."

The foreign ministry did not provide any further information how the map was posted on the website.
