El- Luluah Mosque in Cairo was built in 1015–16 AD. The mosque is also known by many other names as El- Luluah Mosque Luʼluʼah and Qabr Lu’lu’a Bint El-Muqauqis. It is located near the southern cemetery of the Muqattam Hills a low range of hills to east of Cairo.
It was constructed during the reign of the third Fatimid caliph ”El-Hakim” in the Fatimid architectural style.The facade and vaults of the mosque collapsed in 1919, but the mosque was rebuilt by ”Dawoodi Bohras”.
”El- Bohras” trace their religious lineage to the Ismaili Islam practiced by the Fatimid Caliphate.This mosque built among many small mosques that were built on the Muqattam Hill.
El- Luluah Mosque
The Luluah Mosque consists of originally of a three storey tower as structure built over a rectangular plan. Upper stories and arches were built by bricks and interior wall plastered. The uppermost level was pided into two rooms each lit by one window.
”El- manzara” was built near the mosque which was used as guest house for foreign visitors. Later converted into a hostel for merchants visiting place from other countries.
