Egypt’s Sherif Gad Joins Preparatory Committee for Moscow Alumni Forum

The Russian Ministry of Education and Science has hosted a meeting of the organizing committee for the first stage of the International Forum of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, chaired by Deputy Minister of Higher Education Konstantin Mogilevsky.

The meeting brought together Yevgeny Primakov, Head of the Federal Agency for International Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo), and Sangadzhi Tarbaev, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Tourism, along with representatives from 10 foreign countries.

Egypt was represented by Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, who was named a member of the preparatory committee.

The committee reviewed organizational and logistical arrangements for the forum’s first phase, to be held in Moscow at the end of October, as well as plans for a larger follow-up event early next year expected to attract around 1,500 alumni from 150 countries.

Deputy Minister Mogilevsky said the forum aims to strengthen ties between graduates and Russian universities, adding that it will include specialized discussion sessions to boost alumni engagement and cooperation between Russia and partner countries.

According to Gad, the forum, organized in partnership with Russian government institutions and civil society bodies, will provide a platform to discuss key education and science issues — including visa procedures for international students — and to enhance direct dialogue with Russian counterparts.

He further noted that the Egyptian association is preparing a delegation of young and senior alumni to represent Egypt at the forum and highlight the achievements of Russian and Soviet university graduates in the country.
